You Traitor! Collaboration, Perceived Betrayal, and Political Tolerance in Ukraine
Evidence from a conjoint experiment with 2,035 Ukrainians shows that citizens are especially intolerant of collaborators who endanger the nation or act out of pro-Russian sympathies. Redemption is possible, but actions speak louder than words—and even meaningful restorative efforts rarely undo the damage of severe collaboration.
